HEY, FELLA! IT’S A DIESEL
Imagine that you just bought a Ford F-250, Super Duty, truck. It is a 7.3 liter power stroke diesel, 6 speed, 4X 4 with an extended cab and long bed.
Still basking in the thrill of finally owning the truck of your dreams and about the great buy you got on it, you pull up to the gas pump to filler up.
You put your card in, move to take the nozzle and a guy across from you says, Hey fella, don’t think you want to do that. Isn’t that a diesel?
You stop in your tracks, do the Duh! slap on the forehead and say, Of course, of course. What was I thinking?
Everything you and I do is fueled by a thought or perhaps the lack of one.
Every act, every behavior, every dream everything we undertake is preceded by a thought.
That Ford 250, Super Duty truck was designed (and created) to use diesel fuel.
The Bible tells us that God created man in His own image.
No one, not even God, designs something with the expectation that it will perfectly fulfill the intent of the one who designed it without complying with the instructions for its use.
When God created man in His own image (and until man blew it by disobeying God), man’s mind was God’s mind (Phillipians 2:5); man’s will was God’s will (John 5:30); man’s desire to love and be loved was God’s desire to love and be loved (John 15:9&10; 1 John 4).
We were designed and fully equipped to be everything God created us to be. He was to be our fuel, and the nature of His thoughts was to be the nature of our thoughts.
In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Phillipian church, in chapter 4, verse 11, we have these words:
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy think on these things. and the God of peace will be with you.
Is the world full of people who are at peace with God, peace with
themselves and at peace with their fellow man? No. And why?
We were not designed to run on thoughts that continually cause us to be frustrated, fearful, angry, and upset.
Could it be that we are constantly tanking up on gasoline, when we were designed to run on diesel?
Dearly beloved, guard your soul, guard your heart, guard your thoughts.
So, Mr. Henley, you want to be the Master of your fate and the Captain of your Soul?
Let God be the Master of your thoughts and the Captain of your soul.
For that is how you were designed.
For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
OH! REALLY? Hmm…
