THE BEST LIFE EVER! REALLY!
Imagine going into your local library and asking the librarian if she can help you find a book on HOW TO BE A FAILURE IN LIFE, or on HOW TO BE GENUINELY UNHAPPY IN LIFE?
Ridiculous? Of course.
Imagine going into your local library and asking the librarian if they have any books on being successful in life, on learning the secret to real happiness, etc.? She would say, of course we do, whereupon she would then take you to a section of the library with numerous shelves lined with all kinds of books on happiness and how to be successful in life.
But as you begin to browse through the mountain of books from which you can choose, you will discover a really amazing thing. There will not be one single copy of the Bible, of the Holy Scriptures.
Are you a parent? When your first child was born, what wishes did you have for that child?
When you were born, do you know that God had the same wishes for you?
Living life God’s way is the best life possible on this earth. On his own, with just his own resources, man is simply not capable of living the noble, profitable and delightful life that God has called us to live in His Son.
It is a principle design of Satan to use any device to hide and distract us away from God’s goodness and all He has given us to live the life He created us to live.
He seeks to persuade us that religion consists of nothing more than a bag of rules, regulations, and restrictions that keep us from enjoying the real pleasures and goodies of this magnificent world.
Nothing could be further from the truth. We have the following words from the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthian Church. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
“The eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.
I have sought in prior Blogs to resist personal references, but in this case I cannot.
I am now 83. And I have been 25. And I so wish I had known at age 25 what I know now. When I am asked the proverbial how are you doing?, I say better than I deserve and add that I only have one problem, and that is that I cannot seem to run out of things for which to be grateful. And that is true.
However, looking back over my life, when I think of how I allowed myself to be attracted to those things that seemed absolutely necessary at the time, and which distracted me from those things that would have contributed so substantially to the quality of my life and those most dear to me, I am on my knees in thanksgiving to God for His grace and mercy.
Who can know, maybe God has preserved me to write this piece so that it might serve to help someone who is smart enough and wise enough to hear it and understand it to allow God to become the Lord of their lives.
In the Gospel of John, chapter 10, verse 10, the Apostle whom Jesus loved gives us these words of Jesus:
I came that you might have life, and have it MORE abundantly.
He did. And it truly is.
If any dear soul reading this fails to believe it, they will do so at their peril.
OH! REALLY? Hmm…
