FAKE HOME?

Fake news. Fake friends. Fake fun. Getting a little tired of FAKE. whatever tends to follow that word these days? How about Fake Home?

If you are reading this, chances are you may not be old enough to recall the “REAL AMERICA”. But for those of you who do, remember when cynicism was the exception rather than the rule.

A time when you saw an advertisement for most anything, you didn’t automatically suspect it was a con?

A time when a defensive posture towards anyone you did not know well was more the exception than the rule.

A time when you were more inclined to assume they wished you well than they were out to get ‘cha.

Years ago while living in Europe, I recall how extremely rare it was to meet another American. But when we did, it was normally a very enjoyable occasion. And why? Being in a foreign land, it was what we had in common, it was AMERICA.

The question that seems to be on everyone’s mind of late is why has America become such a divided nation? What is causing it?

Is it the rhetoric? Is it the mutually dismissive and disrespectful attitude towards each person’s individual worth and uniqueness?

Has the disposable nature of so much of our society spilled over into personhood?

Is it because America has become a foreign land to many of its own citizens, many of whom no longer feel at home in our their own country?

Have we exchanged the safety and sufficiency of the in God we Trust governance under which we believed we have been living for a fake substitute?

Ask any native born American living abroad, where is home to you?, they will say the U.S. But is it, really?

For as long as many of us can remember, our earthly HOME is (or was) where the Father and the Mother who were responsible for birthing us lived.

For as long as anyone can remember, our eternal HOME is with HIM, the Father who created us all.

Maybe one of the reasons our earthly home is not what it used to be is to help us realize that compared to our ETERNAL HOME, it really is a FAKE HOME.

Every human being who has ever lived will live forever..somewhere. But where?

Unfortunately, there are only two possibilities.

So, let us remember, THIS world is NOT our HOME. Our “HOME” will either be with HIM, or.well, you know.

OH! REALLY? Hmm…
