OK! OK! I’LL DO IT. NOW BUG OFF.

OK! OK! I’ll do it. Now, would you please bug off?

Have you ever said, or perhaps thought those words when someone was telling you to do something?

Can you imagine Jesus saying those words to His Heavenly Father?

We don’t like to be told what to do. We are not wired to handle that very well.

Is simple obedience enough? Or is there a joy God wants us to experience when we have been obedient?

If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. (John 15:10,11)

But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. (John 17:13)

Have you ever loved someone so much that when you learned that there was something that was very special to them which they desired to possess, and you found it and gave it to them, do you recall the joy you had in doing that?

That is precisely the joy that Jesus experienced when He was obedient to whatever His Father instructed Him to do and to be.

And in His prayer in John 17, that is the joy Jesus asked God to help us experience when we obey Him.

Why to help us? Because without the Holy Spirit’s help, we will not, we cannot experience that joy. It is just not how we are wired.

OH! REALLY? Hmm
