I REALLY BELIEVED, BUT THEN…..

In 1856, John Greenleaf Whittier wrote a poem entitled MAUD MULLER.

It was a poem about a beautiful young maiden and a wealthy young Judge who met only once and though attracted to each other, neither spoke of it but went their way. And the balance of their lives was spent dreaming of what a life together might have been.

Thus in one of the final stanzas of the poem, we have these words:

For of all sad words of tongue or pen,

The saddest are these: it might have been.

You really did believe, but then

What happened?

Have you spent any time looking back to the time when you first came to know your LORD and Savior?

Do you remember the joy of your salvation? Do you remember the peace you experienced, the sense of being forgiven and loved by your Creator?

Did you allow yourself to begin believing what the world had to offer was better than what GOD had to offer?

Are Whittier’s words above going to apply to you?

Are you aware that many of your brothers and sisters are praying that they won’t

OH! REALLY? Hmm
