IT ISN’T THE “WHAT”, IT’S THE “WHO”

Is not our thinking sometimes confused when we begin the process of trying to come up with solutions to this or that challenge?

For example, we ask, WHAT is the solution. Yet, a WHAT can accomplish nothing without a WHO attached to it in some way.

In politics, we are constantly focusing on WHAT will deliver us from this or that problem or WHAT will be the solution to this or that dilemma.

Yet, we don’t nominate and then elect a WHAT We elect a WHO

Some who read this will say, Well, Duh! Of course This is just a case of parsing words.

No, this NOT a parsing of words.

WHAT, by itself, is never the solution to anything.

Nowhere is this more powerfully and unmistakably expressed than in one of the Apostle Paul’s letters to the church in Corinth. In Galatians 1: 3-5, we have these words.

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, WHO gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to WHOM be glory forever and ever. Amen.

This does not say that WHAT will deliver us from this present evil age, it says WHO will deliver us.

As the Apostle Paul told Timothy, his son-in-the-faith:

….for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.(2 Timothy 1:12)

OH! REALLY? YES!
