IT’S ALL ABOUT….‘LOVE’

Are there things you would like to understand or perhaps understand better and are not sure why you don’t. Me too.

That frankly, was and is the whole purpose and motivation of this Blogsite. Every one of my Blogs relate to things I learned that made such a difference in my life once I understood them or understood them more fully.

If you have children, this will be particularly meaningful to you.

As parents, don’t we tend to love anyone who loves our children?

(Keep that thought.)

Would you like to know God maybe understand Him a little bit better than you do?

Know God? OK, you say, that is not possible No, it must be possible because Jesus said we can.

In His final prayer to His Father before He was crucified, Jesus said the following to Him:

And this is eternal life that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.(John 17:3)

OK then, you ask, how can I know God?

Remember your question is how can I KNOW God?, not fully understand God.

The answer to that question is found in the following two passages:

For we know that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:36-39)

This will all come together in the most remarkable way when you take a few moments to read the book of 1 John. (You can, quickly. There are only 5 short chapters.) There the Apostle unravels the great mystery. He tells us what God wants us to know about Him. And that is that.

GOD.IS.LOVE.

When we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. He then empowers us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

You say, OK. Hold it a minute. Time out! I’m supposed to love my neighbor as I love myself?

Yes, that is what He tells us we must do.

You say, Well, that is impossible.

You are right. That IS impossible when we try to do it on our own. But that is not what God is telling us we must do. He is telling us we must FIRST love Him, with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, and when we do that, THEN we will receive back from Him more than enough love for our neighbors.

You see, we don’t love our neighbors with our love, we love our neighbors with the love we have from God. His love for us is so great, so abundant, it is more than we can take in and it spills over. And it is with that which spills over that we are then able to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

What is key here is that when we love our neighbors as we love ourselves we are loving His children.

And when we are loving Him AND loving His children, we ARE fulfilling His purpose.

Because we know that God is love, we can know that God loves those who love His children.

When we love His children, we are being agents of cause, agents that cause all things to work together for good.

OH! REALLY? Hmm
